Snow Day Activities - 6 Activities to Keep you Busy and Warm!

Snowmageddon has hit Burlington.  School is closed, buses are cancelled, programs are postponed and kids are stir crazy!  Thanks to momstown arts and crafts, we have some great ideas of what to keep us busy during this snow day.  Hopefully there are a few things here to make the hours before bedtime pass quickly for you too!

What could be more fun on a snowy day at home, than to make a construction site in your kitchen - using oatmeal, momstown has some great ways to use oatmeal to inspire your kids' creativity and exploration.

Turn the indoors into a Winter Wonderland!  Bring the snow indoors for a fun sensory experience.  Snow Cakes, Snow Castles and sensory fun – all in your warm and toasty kitchen

Everyone loves playdough.  Here’s a recipe to make at home!  Try using cookie cutters, or how about your fridge magnets to see what impressions the letters make?

An Easy Sensory Activity is Shaving CreamPaint.  Use colours and textures to make your own fun creation!  You can even pretend it’s “snow”

Speaking of snow – did you know we’re focusing on polar animals this month?  Why not make this cute penguin craft at home today.  It’s a cute mosaic and easy for kids of all ages

And after all this indoor activity – you must be hungry.  How about some tasty muffins for an afternoon snack?  Here’s a recipe for some tasty (and easy) banana muffins

So what are you doing to keep busy during the snow storm of the year?  Comment below, or come and visit us on twitter, Facebook or on our 24/7 message board and share your ideas!

Whenever my kids are stuck indoors, we always put on an audiobook to accompany whatever they're doing. There's lots of great sites to download them, but we use this one a lot because all of the stories are free and original. Here's the link for anyone who is interested. http://www.twirlygirlshop.com/moral-stories-for-kids
